The best local baseball you’ve been ignoring all summer
Our case for taking a boat to watch some baseball

As we never tire of reminding you here at The Groove, it may be late August, but we've still got a full month until the official end of summer, which is the autumnal equinox on Sept. 21, not Labor Day. That means plenty of weeks left to partake in one of the greatest joys of the season: cheap local baseball.
No one here would ever turn down tickets to a Mets game, but for the uninitiated, these non-major-league games really do bring their own appeal to the table. The tickets are dirt cheap, all the seats are good, there are endless gimmicks and promos to keep you entertained.
The Brooklyn Cyclones have gotten particularly good at this, with their reliably viral Seinfeld Night and, just last month, a game where fans were encouraged to bring their cats to the stadium. I personally once went to a Cyclones game where Fireworks Friday, Italian Heritage Night and Christmas in July Night on fell on the same blessed evening.
But the best cheap baseball in the city is probably not the one you're thinking of. Read all about it in this members-only post:
