The Friday High 5: The NYC movies we wished made the bracket [members-only]
We're here to pay our respects to recommend five movies that we love but didn't put in our best NYC movies bracket.
Occasionally, we share some behind-the-scenes looks at stuff Team Groove is doing, seeing or enjoying around the city as bonus content for our members. Welcome to today's collective Friday High 5!
Good afternoon good Groven, and welcome to a world in which the Mets are undefeated and Luis Robert Jr. is the second coming of Carls Beltran (if you need help understanding all of that simply read my very long Mets season preview). We are just easing into Big Ball Chunky Time, but there's another important sport-like competition taking place at The Groove, which is of course our bracket to determine what the best 21st century movie about New York City is (voting in the Sweet Sixteen runs through Monday at 9am!).
We started with 64 movies, which sounds like a lot, but there have also been a lot of movies about New York City to come out this century, and even if you're just picking the cream of the crop, you wind up with some favorites that just don't make the cut. So Tim, Virginia, Melton and I are here to pay our respects to and offer our recommendations for five movies that we love but didn't put in the bracket.
