When you’re a fun guy party boy reporter, the fact that New York City’s Inauguration Day is on New Year’s Day means that the demands of the job burden you with a crucial choice. Logic will tell you that you have to leave the party at a reasonable hour so you can get some sleep. But doing so means you miss out on crucial bonding opportunities like talking to your friend about the Fordham Road bus lane at 2 a.m. or making your remaining friends at the party watch the interminable original opening scene to Mallrats at some time near dawn. If you know me at all, you know I am constantly making the latter choice.

This is how you wind up at the inauguration looking and feeling like you just crawled out of the sewer. It's also how you wind up attempting journalism but winding up with something more akin to outsider art, which you will soon experience if you're a paid member of The Groove.
